What is the Construction Cashback Boost and how does it work

The Construction Cashback Boost helps you turn your everyday construction spend into instant savings. No codes, no receipts – just simple, automatic cashback.

For just £8.99 (no VAT applies*) per month, you’ll earn 1% cashback on eligible purchases like building and construction materials.

If you’re on Max, it’s 1% on top of the cashback you’re already getting, for the same categories.

The monthly maximum you can earn with the boost is £200

* From 01 October 2025, VAT no longer applies to the Construction Cashback Boost, the Tide Instant Saver Boost, our Paid Plans and Expense cards – so it won’t be charged. However, you might continue to see it in-app and on the web by 01 November.

Your eligibility and cashback payouts

Must-knows

Cashback eligibility is based on the seller's Merchant Category Code (MCC code), which indicates how they're registered with their payment provider

In rare instances, a merchant may not be registered under an eligible code, so cashback won't apply – even if the purchase looks construction-related. These codes are set by the merchant and their acquirer, not by Tide, so if you're unsure about how they're registered, please check directly with them

Any cashback you earn for the current month will arrive in your account within the first 21 days of the following month. You'll see it on your timeline as ‘Monthly Cashback reward’

Cashback-eligible purchases

You can earn cashback for purchases you make with merchants registered under supported Merchant Category Codes. These are:

Building materials suppliers – 5211

Electrical parts and equipment retailers – 5065

Construction materials not elsewhere classified – 5039

Hardware stores – 5072

General contractors – 1520

Subscription and billing

Signing up is easy and you can do it straight from your Tide app:

Tap Profile > Profile & Settings > Membership > Available boosts > Construction Cashback Boost

Read and agree to the terms and conditions, and tap Subscribe

Our billing cycle runs from the 1st to the last day of each month, with payments collected on the 1st.

In your first month, we’ll charge you pro-rata – for example, if you upgrade on the 16th, you’ll only pay for the days left that month. From the next cycle, we’ll collect the full monthly price of your Construction Cashback Boost.

How to cancel your Construction Cashback Boost

You can cancel anytime in the app, by tapping: Profile > Profile & Settings > Memberships > Construction Cashback Boost > Cancel subscription.

You'll keep earning cashback until the end of the month you've paid for, and the cancellation will take effect from the beginning of the next one.
